One question that I see a lot of authors’ Frequently Asked Questions pages is how do I become a better writer? And while the specific answers may vary from author to author the essence of the answer is this: read. Read a lot. Read whenever you can, wherever you are. A writer who doesn’t read is like a painter who doesn’t look at other artist’s artwork.
Since I have been given this wonderful advice, I read religiously. (Okay, I’ll admit it, I was a reader even before my favorite authors all told me I had to read in order to write). I thought I’d share some of my all-time favorite books with you here.
[Note: I’m going to be updating this list in the near future to include a more diverse array of authors. I apologizeĀ for failing to do this sooner. If you want to get a more up-to-date picture of my reading habits, you can check out my Goodreads reviews here].
